Responsibilities
- Reviewing individualized education plans (IEPs) and lesson plans with students, ensuring accommodations are met
- Assisting students with assignments, projects, test preparation, and other academic tasks, tailoring support to each student’s needs
- Working with students to help them grasp key concepts from the classroom, using specialized teaching strategies for different learning abilities
- Teaching skills to improve academic performance, such as self-advocacy, study strategies, and coping techniques
- Demonstrating best practices for working with students with diverse learning needs, including differentiated instruction, sensory supports, and behavior management techniques
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field
- Emotional maturity and stability to handle challenging classroom situations
- Patient, flexible, and positive attitude, with the ability to adapt to various student needs and learning styles
- Consistent, dependable, and cooperative, with a sense of humor to build rapport with students
- Ability to take supervision and constructive feedback for professional growth
- Strong ability to supervise and support students, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment
